"I really don't care about being the first, so long as it inspires someone else to be second"
These famous words were once spoken by young Raha Moharrak when she reached the peak of Mount Everest in 2013. Well known by the world, she is one of the youngest, and the first ever Saudi woman who summited the Mount. She told me that one of the many important reasons for her to climb is for her to get away from the world boundaries, to live and enjoy the life she wants, to become the person who she wishes to be, and to embrace freedom.
Raha, who now resides in Dubai, is a brand ambassador for Nike, a role model for Arab women, and a travel blogger. She contacted me to capture part of her journey in New Zealand and these photos will be included in her new book and a magazine write up. It is an absolute honour of mine to photograph this incredible woman.
